Recently, the "Symposium on Building an Educational Powerhouse and Empowering the Cultivation of New Talents (hereinafter referred to as the "Symposium") was held in Hefei. Nearly a hundred experts and scholars in the fields of vocational education and education gathered to discuss new paths for the high-quality development of vocational education. During the symposium, the Hefei Preschool Education Research Institute was officially inaugur. The symposium featured over ten exchange sessions. Liu Lanming, chairman of the Ministry of Education's Professional Teaching Guidance Committee for Vocational Colleges, mentioned in share that China has built the world's largest vocational education system. As of the end of 2023, there were 11,13 vocational schools (including technical schools) in China, with nearly 35 million students. In recent years, more than 70% of new frontline workers in manufacturing, strategic emerging industries, and modern services come from vocational colleges. Zhang Yanyan, deputy director of the Higher Education Department of the Anhui Department of Education, introduced that Anhui's vocational colleges and universities cultivate nearly 250,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents for the each year. "In recent years, the Anhui Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government have issued a series of policies to promote the accelerated development of vocational education towards connotative enhancement and high-quality development, providing talent support for Anhui's economic and social development and industrial transformation and upgrading." In April2024, the Hefei Preschool Education Research Institute was established, affiliated with the Hefei Preschool Teachers College. During the opening ceremony this symposium, the institute was officially inaugurated. It is reported that the institute is a non-profit academic research institution, based on theoretical research, with a on applied research, integrating a batch of talents from disciplines such as preschool education, special education, childcare, elderly care, and sports. The symposium was co by the Ministry of Education's Professional Teaching Guidance Committee for Vocational Colleges, the Ministry of Education's Chinese Characteristic Apprenticeship Teaching Guidance Committee's Modern Service Subcommittee, the Hefei Preschool Education Research Institute, and hosted by the Hefei Preschool Teachers College.
